The tractor trailer was heading southbound on Route 16 when it went off the road and into the northbound lane on Monday Dec. 12 around 2:30 p.m., New Hampshire state police said.
The trailer crashed into two vehicles, a 2022 Acura and a 2016 Honda Accord. The driver of the Acura died from fatal injuries sustained during the accident. The driver of the Accord received minor injuries, and a third vehicle collided with the guardrail to avoid the crash.
29-year-old Pedro Ivan Ortiz Andino of Fitchburg, MA has been identified by New Hampshire state police as the driver of the tractor trailer. The accident, which took place near mile marker 6.4, caused police to close Route 16 for several hours.
The deceased driver of the Acura was identified as New Hampshire resident Nicole Sarkis, 59, New Hampshire state police added on Wednesday, Dec 14.
The Collision Analysis & Reconstruction Unit responded to the accident and is leading the investigation into the collision.
